Guidelines for Editors

A checklist of tasks for editors of the Journal of Writing in Creative Practice


Essential Tasks

  • Please be aware of what the current version of Call for Paper says.
  • At first contact, ask authors to read the Author Guidelines
  • If appropriate, invite them to email a 150 word abstract to
  • When you receive this, upload it to the Abstracts Gallery and/or deal with it yourself
  • If appropriate, invite them to submit a full article and ask them to follow the Author Checklist
  • When you receive a full paper, immediately upload it to the Unedited Articles Gallery
  • Announce this to other/s or work on it yourself (make it know to everyone what you have done)
  • Before inviting an Editorial Board member to referee a paper, please link them to the Reviewer Guidelines
  • Whenever a paper is refereed and/or edited please ensure the following:
  1. That all comments are highlighted using WORD's 'Track Changes' facility (under Tools)
  2. That you have written the editor's/reviewer's name and date on the top of the article
  3. That you have recorded the latest word-count in the Gallery notes field
