Guidelines for Editors
A checklist of tasks for editors of the Journal of Writing in Creative Practice
Essential Tasks
- Please be aware of what the current version of Call for Paper says.
- At first contact, ask authors to read the Author Guidelines
- If appropriate, invite them to email a 150 word abstract to
- When you receive this, upload it to the Abstracts Gallery and/or deal with it yourself
- If appropriate, invite them to submit a full article and ask them to follow the Author Checklist
- When you receive a full paper, immediately upload it to the Unedited Articles Gallery
- Announce this to other/s or work on it yourself (make it know to everyone what you have done)
- Before inviting an Editorial Board member to referee a paper, please link them to the Reviewer Guidelines
- Whenever a paper is refereed and/or edited please ensure the following:
- That all comments are highlighted using WORD's 'Track Changes' facility (under Tools)
- That you have written the editor's/reviewer's name and date on the top of the article
- That you have recorded the latest word-count in the Gallery notes field
- Ensure the author returns a signed paper version of the Copyright Consent Form to Ann Schlachter
- When an article has been refereed, notify us and move it from the Unedited Articles Gallery to the Edited Articles Gallery, etc.
